Fresh from the Fridge: Robin Thicke- My Life (single)

If your wondering why there’s a “Despicable Me” picture here it’s because they’re soundtrack actually has this Robin Thicke single on it. lol I was shocked when I heard the new’s too but apparently Pharrel is credited as a music producer and co-creator of the official music score for the upcoming animated Summer film which was another shocker to me. lol

Though it’s hard to try and find the relationship between this track and the movie without seeing the it, it’s a hot track none the less. With a dope beat produced by The Neptune’s of course and a very feel good vibe too it with a nice beat switch through out the song this is def a track to download and add to you Robin Thicke collection. For those that want some more info on the movie here’s the trailer…

Who is Black Milk?

What’s up my Soulified people’s? It’s ya boy Black Milk fresh to the site and here to bring nothing but the hottest exclusive’s on the soulful tip whether it be new, gossip, fashion, food, album review’s, brand new music, artist interview, my thoughts, etc

A little bit about me…

I’m half black/ half white which is where the name “Black Milk” was birthed from and I’m very proud to be reppin the best of both world’s like our President Barack. Even have a clothing line targeted towards my mixed folks called Mixedwel/ Halfrica I was born and bred in a small desert town in the middle of no where called Blythe, Ca where I was raised on my Grandparent’s alfalfa (hay) farm where I was getting up at 4 am in the morning at the age of 8 to work driving the tractor. When I was wasn’t working on the farm I was in my father’s karate studio training and teaching as I’m a 2nd degree black belt presently. As soon as I was old enough to move out of my small home town I did just that for all the opportunities the LA/ OC area has to offer where I currently reside.

Growing up with a white father and a black mother I was exposed to all sort of soulful music that I still enjoy to this day like Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Chilite’s, Michael McDonald, Al Green, and Stevie Wonder just to name a few. All that dope music in my life inspired me to get into the radio industry where I was a radio personality for a while till I just flat out couldn’t stand the politics and mainstream music that was being played on the daily. These days I listen to one of my all time favorite singers Dwele where it is my personal mission educate those that are sleeping on him that he isn’t just the “guy on the Mc Donald’s commercial” or the “guy singing on Kanye West’s Flashing Light’s” track lol Anthony Hamilton, Floetry, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, and Diondre Jermaine are a few other soul artist I enjoy. Aside from the soul I love real hip hop like Common, Mos Def, Slum Village, and pretty much anything else with substance and meaning that’s not on the radio along with a dance to go with it. lol

Hopefully all thee above give’s you some insight on who I am and what I plan to bring to the table. If you want to know more about me feel free to ask as I’m an open book.

Morning all.  Today is hump day, and I bring forth an artist that has a light, Jazzy, and fun vibe to it.  Her name is Esperanza Spalding. As a 23 year old acoustic double bass musician, you know she is something special.  She is from Portland, Oregon and start playing when she was 15.  Her first album “JunJo” was released in 2006, and her 2nd and my favorite, “Esperanza” was released in 2008.  Now, some songs are in Spanish, and some are english.  As with great music, it speaks through the language barriers, and you will enjoy.

Good morning Soul Peoples. Today’s Morning Start artist is Kem. In 2003 he came out of the blue, to bring a sound that just never existed prior to him. It was a relaxed vibe, that just defined “chill”. He has released two albums “Kemistry” in 2003, and “Album II” in 2005. He is currently working on his third album, Intimacy. That should be released this fall. With the first single to hit radio stations hopefully in the next few weeks. To hold us till then here are some of my favorite songs, by this talented man.
