Black Porcelain gives us “Butterflies” Remixed

Ever get the feeling that there is a whole other world of Soul music to love, but you don’t know where to start?  Well, I have found my start.  Her name is Black Porcelain aka Carol Mashigo (Twitter/Facebook/YouTube).  She is a singer/songwriter born in Soweto.  Previously she released her EP “TheInBetween”.  The hit of that EP was “Butterflies”, which very popular in Europe.  WIth the help of DJ Zinhle, they remixed the song and the reach of the song grew even more.

What entrances me about her voice, is that on the remixed “Butterflies”, is that the up tempo vibe doesn’t over power her voice.  She is able to convey her silky subtle vocals, and not get lost within the music.  For me that’s a real show of talent, and teamwork in the studio.  To help give you some insight into her in the studio, check out the video below.

I don’t know about yall but these days you can’t really go anywhere without hearing this Chris Brown single. And though I haven’t really been a fan of Chris Brown ever since he slapped the shit outta Rhianna and his “Gimme That” day’s I gotta admit I’m feelin this single and even Tyga and the “other dude’s” verse. lol

I guess I wasn’t the only one feeling this single because outta the blue comes the remix full of a ton of big name MC’s by the names of Drake, Kanye West, T.I., Faboulous, and Andre 3000. Though I could have done without T.I. and Fabolous the remix is fire none the less and Drake totally murder’s it coming out the blocks first.

So the other day I was choping it up with my homegirl/ graphic girl Gigi and she’s ask me if I saw the Affion Crockett spoof he did on the Deuces song and video. I hadn’t so took a little trip to youtube and checked it out and busted out laughing! I can even listen to the original right anymore without thinking about Affions hook “Douche It!” LMAO! Be warned yall that his lyrics in the video are pretty ummmmm graphic and the title should say it all. And to any of the females that don’t like the lyric’s you more then likely prolly need to…. “Douche It!” lol : o )~

And just when I thought Affion couldn’t be a bigger fool on the spoof he goes ahead and does the full remix impersonating every feature just as they spit on the song but with his lyrics and sounds just like them! Talk about some flippin talent! Expect the Affion Crockett show to come out in February of next year on the Fox network yall and suscribe to his youtube channel cause dude’s got some super funny stuff on it.

There was a ton of news about this remix prior to it coming out just because of the unusual feature’s. I mean Kanye West and Wu Tang Clans Raekwon the Chef with teen pop heart throb Justin Bieber?! I would of never thought in a million years but I can safety say that Justin Beiber “ain’t nothing to fuck with!” on this track. lol The beat immediately start out Wu Tang style and Raekwon come out of no where with that gutter east coast vibe the Justin come’s out of know where himself and his vocals are on point with catchy lyrics to go with it. Kanye def made a masterpiece with this one.

All the Justin Bieber hater’s give prop’s to the kid. His talent can’t be denied. Check out his youtube page with his material before he became famous and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Looking at that page I can understand why he was signed straight from his youtube page with the covers he did and all the damn instruments he can play. I’m not going to even front…I’ve caught myself a few time’s singing “Baby Baby” in my head when the shit come on the radio hahahahaha Let me know what you think about the track.

Fresh from the Fridge: Nicki Minaj – Your Love (single/ video)

Now I’ll be the very first to admit that Nicki Minaj’s voice, prior songs, weird movements, fashion sense, and facial expressions bug the shit out of me. But I am not even mad at her for this track and the video to go with it.

I first heard this track on Power 106’s “New at 2” segment and was immediately hooked. The sample is dope. The beat knock’s. The hook is catchy. Her singing voice is on point (even with the auto tune). And the lyrics have a dope LL Cool J vibe with a female twist. Then MTV puts out the actual video as well as the behind the scenes for it and that was the icing on the cake! For those that don’t know I’m a second degree black belt so the Geisha karate themed theme of the video had me hooked from the start. And to top it off she has an actual martial artist and great actor; Michael Jai White as her leading man. The story line is nice with her being one of his students and falling for him as well.

My 3 complaints about this video:

  1. Kill like 90% of all the flowy artsy silk crap and have an actual Japanese style karate Dojo as well as the outside scenery.
  2. The karate choreography is boo boo.
  3. And for all of us fellow’s she covered ALL of her booty through out the whole damn video! lol
