Nakia Henry Tells a Story of Transition (Video)

Nakia Henry, an artist who I have come to love her music, has released a video for her remixed song Transition. It’s from her debut album “Remember Me”.  It’s a song of life, struggle, and change.  Very beautiful, and will give you insight to her and her music.  Take a listen, and check out the album.  You’ll enjoy the discovery.

Download Here Cafe Bohome EP (449 downloads)

Akello Light has dropped another EP for us to sample.  Another collection of laid back music, featuring beautiful women. Not a bad combination.  Here is what Akello Light describes it. “Jazzy, laid-back hip-hop beats mixed with lost tales of love are the main ingredients within this musical adventure. South Carolina producer Obsidian Blue and North Carolina creative artist Akello Light give you a late-night dream to expand your thoughts to. Inhale and Exhale!”

Saidah Baba Talibah Wakes up the Genre with a (S)cream

Saidah Baba Talibah (twitter/facebook) has released the video to her single (S)Cream. Which is also the name of her debut album, that was released two weeks ago. She brings a welcome change, and realness to the genre.  She is an artist that uses real instruments to compliment her infinitely ranged voice.  The reason that I say that she wakes up the genre, is that she isn’t afraid of the electric guitar. For some reason, if we hear an electric guitar we are turned off.  If you do that, in this case, then you are really missing out on what she has to share with you.

The range in her talent can be really realized, when looking at the power of “(S)Cream”, then the subtleness of “High”, and finally the warm and inviting “”Good Morning Baby”.  Again, don’t be afraid of real instruments, and miss something great.  Let Saidah Baba Talibah be your guide to this new world.  As I listen to her music, her album is hooking me with each song. It’s like getting a little sweet in one bite, and a little spicy in the next.

Dessy Di Lauro asks “Why You Raggin’?”

Dessy Di Lauro has released her first video for, her 2nd album “Jumpin N Jivin’ Live @ The Swing House”.  The video “Why You Raggin'” is the visualization of the song, which won Hollywood Media In MusicAward for Best R&B/Soul Song.  The style of the music and video are from the combination of James Johnson, Cab Calloway, a bit of R&B and a helping of funk.

Corinne Bailey Rae- Closer (video)

Corrine can get as close to me as she wants and I’m not even into bony women. lol OMG she is gorgeous! I’m really diggin this track and the video. She has a very super sexy retro swag on this one reminiscent of Donna Summer Love to Love You Baby single back in the mid 70’s.

Mad props to her on the live version to. One thing that’s most artist can’t pull off is sounding even better live and Corrine easily does just that. I swear you’d think she was lip signing as clear and crisp as she sounds. True talent right here!!!!

Thee official track list! Featuring a full album of 18 tracks for our listening pleasure along with some really nice feature’s which Dwele isn’t to known for via his past album’s.

So far I’ve heard 3 of the 18 track’s. The first being  “Whats Not to Love” where you can listen in my prior post here. Track #2 “I Wish” that I’ll be showcasing fresh out the fridge later this week for you guy’s. And last but certainly not least track #8 “How I deal feat Slum Village which is by far my favorite track out of the 3 and probably out of the 18. Dwele actually made this single about 2 years ago during the Obama campaign which was his inspiration for the track. He made a super dope music video of the track because as he say’s “I was bored at home, shot a video, me and my tripod.” If this is the end result of his boredom then I hope he’s bored a whole lot more because I lost count on how many time’s I’ve watched this video due to how hot the track is as well as the all around dope simplicity of the video where he simply in his room singing to the camera on the edge of his bed with 2 of his clones playing the beat with an MPC and a keyboard. This video is nuts! You be the judge…

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZjpZAea-Cg

I guess he was feeling the track so much he decided to revamp it a little with the Slum Village feature where you can hear a taste of it in his “W.orld. Commercial” which I also posted in the link above. Let me know what track your looking forward to hearing and why from the list. And make sure to check the site on the daily for soul exclusive’s from myself and the rest of the Soulified crew.
